No Dig Sewer Repair Blog

All About Pipelining

Are you looking into having your sewer line repaired? Pipe lining is a great alternative to traditional pipe replacement methods used in the past. In this blog, you will read more about the different techniques and gain insight into the new no dig technology that JF Denney is offering for sewer line repairs.

Pipe lining is a sewer repair method that allows our highly skilled technicians to repair or replace your sewer line that may be damaged, leaking, or backed up without having to dig up your entire yard. This means that you get to avoid the unsightly view of dug-up trees and piles of dirt as you would have with the use of traditional methods.

Trenchless Sewer Repairs: What Are They?

Pipe Lining

When something unexpected happens to your sewer line it can be scary, especially when you don't know who to call or what to look for in terms of getting things repaired. That is why JF Denney is here to help, offering a newer type of technology that may help make your unexpected issue seem less daunting and more manageable.

Pipelining is a technique that is being used more and more by companies to help keep the cost of these expensive repairs down, keep your home looking less like a construction zone, and have things back in working order in just one day instead of a full week or more. Pipelining is done by drilling a small hole in the shallow part of your sewer line and inserting a camera to see what the issue is. Once the issue has been determined, and it is confirmed that the sewer line isn't fully collapsed, our team will take a new pipe liner - this is typically made out of felt or fiberglass material - and soak it in epoxy resin. This is then pushed through the existing access points and fitted into the existing pipe, essentially creating a lining for the old pipe and covering any cracks or breaks.

Pipe Bursting

Another method of trenchless sewer repair is known as pipe bursting. This is exactly what it sounds like. In order to do this, our team will create access points at the start and end of the existing sewer line and then carefully insert a bursting head which, as the name suggests, will cause the existing pipe to burst. The bursting head is attached to a new pipe that will follow the bursting head along the old pipe as it is being burst.

Traditional Sewer Repair

Trenchless Sewer Repair vs. Traditional Sewer Repair

Trenchless Sewer Repair

Trenchless sewer repair, also known as no-dig sewer repair, is an alternative to the more common methods of sewer repair. With trenchless sewer repair technology, you get what you need to be fixed without the hassle of having your yard dug up. The benefits of going with this newer method of sewer repair can be found in the next section of this blog.

Traditional Sewer Repair

Traditional sewer repair involves digging trenches in your yard to gain access to the pipes that need to be repaired or replaced. This is exactly what you typically think of when you hear the words 'sewer repair'. It is what you see in movies. It is the common method of holes being put in yards, with a crew of workers spending the day digging down to the pipes. While this is sometimes the only viable option, and an option that has been trusted for decades, many people are now opting to go with a no-dig solution for the reasons listed in the next section of this blog.

Pros of No Dig Sewer Repair

Cost Effective

As you might guess, the less work that needs to be done to complete a job, the less money you are going to have to spend. With trenchless sewer repair technology, you will typically be spending less than if you used the traditional pipe replacement due to the shorter amount of time labor is needed. This newer method also comes with longer-lasting results.

Less Destruction

Instead of having to dig up your entire sewer line, leaving your front yard an unsightly mess for a week or longer, the no-dig solution allows the experts to only make a small hole in your yard to find out what the issue is. Then they can go the route of one of the above options.

Time-Saving

No-Dig sewer repairs can usually be completed within a single day. This is a huge advantage when compared to the traditional pipe repair and replacement which typically takes at least a full week to have completed.

Cons of No Dig Sewer Repair

Sometimes, trenchless sewer repair technology cannot be used

New technology can do amazing things, but sometimes the old technology is just the better - or the only - choice. Whether or not no-dig sewer repair is something that you can take advantage of is totally dependent on what the underlying issue is. For instance, no-dig technology cannot be used when the pipe has collapsed or if the issue is caused by something having been installed incorrectly to begin with. JF Denney will be able to help you determine which method is right for your situation.

Trenchless sewer pipe repair must be done by trained professionals

One of the biggest downsides of trenchless sewer pipe repair is that it must be done by a trained professional. Because of this, it could sometimes prove to be difficult to find someone to complete the job for you. Luckily, JF Denney has a team of highly trained professionals who are able to use trenchless sewer repair technology.
