Amana HVAC Warranty Guide: What Is Covered, What Changed in 2025, and How to Stay Protected

Everything You Need to Know About Amana HVAC Warranties

One of the top reasons homeowners choose Amana heating and cooling systems is the warranty. Amana offers some of the strongest warranty protection in the HVAC industry — but the details matter. Here is a clear breakdown of what is covered, what changed in 2025, and how to make sure your warranty stays valid.

Lifetime Limited Warranty — The Amana Advantage

Amana's flagship warranty feature is the Lifetime Limited Warranty on the compressor (air conditioners and heat pumps) and heat exchanger (furnaces). This means that for as long as the original registered homeowner lives in the home, Amana will replace a failed compressor or heat exchanger at no cost for the part.

Compare that to most competitors who offer 5–10 year parts warranties, and the difference is significant — especially when a compressor replacement can cost $1,500–$3,000 for parts alone.

Lifetime Unit Replacement Warranty

On select premium models, Amana takes it a step further with the Lifetime Unit Replacement Warranty . If the compressor in your outdoor unit or the heat exchanger in your furnace fails, Amana does not just replace the part — they replace the entire unit with a new comparable Amana product.

This is virtually unheard of in the HVAC industry. No other major brand offers full unit replacement as standard warranty coverage.

Important: 2025 Warranty Changes

Effective April 1, 2025, Amana made significant changes to their warranty program:

  • Before April 2025: Lifetime Unit Replacement was included as standard coverage on qualifying models
  • After April 2025: Lifetime Unit Replacement and Lifetime Compressor coverage on new purchases are now available through the Asure Extended Service Agreement (ESA) — an optional extended warranty plan purchased at the time of installation
  • Standard coverage on post-April-2025 units is a 10-year one-time unit replacement for the original registered homeowner

If your system was installed before April 1, 2025, your existing Lifetime coverage is still in effect.

What You Must Do to Keep Your Warranty Valid

  1. Register within 60 days. New Amana systems must be registered within 60 days of installation at goamana.com or amana-hac.com. Failing to register reduces your warranty to the base coverage (typically 5 years).
  2. Use a licensed contractor. The system must be installed by a licensed HVAC professional. DIY installations void the warranty.
  3. Properly matched system. The indoor and outdoor units must be a factory-approved match. Mixing brands or mismatched equipment can void coverage.
  4. Annual maintenance. While not always explicitly required for warranty validity, Amana recommends annual professional maintenance. Some extended coverage options do require documented maintenance history.

What Is NOT Covered

Amana warranties do not cover:

  • Labor costs — The warranty covers parts and replacement units, but the labor to install them is not included unless you have a separate labor warranty from your installer
  • Refrigerant — If your system needs a refrigerant recharge, that is not a warranty item
  • Ductwork, thermostats, or accessories — Only the core HVAC equipment is covered
  • Damage from neglect, flooding, or power surges
  • Transferability — Amana's Lifetime warranty is for the original registered homeowner only. If you sell the home, the new owner gets the remaining years of the base warranty
